High Purity Magnesium Oxide Used in the Manufacture of Grain Oriented Electrical Steels

MagChem^® 20SC is a high purity, micronized grade of magnesium oxide that is used in the manufacture of grain oriented steel for high efficiency distribution transformer cores, specialty ceramics, and coatings.

In the annealing process, MagChem 20SC reacts with the
silicon steel to form a glass-like film during the high
temperature anneal, which then acts as an electrical insulator
between core laminations in an electrical transformer.
